THE ESTEVAN L.A.
The Estevan L.A. There is so much I could say about this. About the weight of photography. About the artist, Estevan Oriol. In brief, this is iconic. Estevan took photographs that pushed Cholo culture beyond the street of Los Angeles, and, in a single frame, he made L.A. a globally recognized gang sign.
And, let me brag here, I met THE Estevan. And his girl. These hands! I remember being so nervous. It was crazy.
When I saw this stencil on the sidewalk I noticed the rings and the nails. That's how I knew it was the real Estevan image that was used for this. And that's the only reason I took this photo. I especially love that it’s on the sidewalk, on the streets of Los Angeles.
