IMAGINE IT ALL
Imagine It All. For decades, this place was an iconic spot in Los Angeles. Kids and adults alike would dream and play here. In early 2009 I was invited to photograph the inside, my first time ever going there. It was fun. A place you could literally see time in. The behind the senses was rooms of files and puppets and piles of papers and VHS tapes. I loved walking around while the puppeteers were rehearsing. I remember seeing crowds outside waiting to get in.
In 2018, I included this location in the Los Angeles series. It took several tries because cars were always parked right in front. The only way I was able to take this was because the road was being worked on and there was no parking allowed. That also meant I had to stand on an active street lane in L.A. - and pray no one hit me. I did get things set up on the camera the best I could before I stepped out there. When working with a view camera it always take time to get things level and in focus.
